2/21 Recap: Armia strikes again; Sundher concussed

Joel Armia scored his 16th goal of the year Tuesday and added an assist as Assat skated past TPS, 4-2. The 1+1 effort was Armia’s seventh multiple game of the season. The 18-year old winger has collected nine goals and eight assists in his last 15 games, and now has 33 points (3rd on team) with nine dates left on the regular season schedule.

In the WHL, Kevin Sundher missed his fourth game due to a concussion as Brandon dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to Kootenay. ICE netminder Nathan Lieuwen, who leads the WHL with a 2.30 goals against average, was given the night off.

Kris, The more I read about Phil Varone, the more I am interested. We all talk about Sundher and Catenacci, but this Varone kid is pretty good too. What a steal from San Jose…20 year old kid leading Rochester in scoring. Nice.

  5. Good eye. Varone has been excellent since day 1 of dcamp. Very good player with a sense of where his teammates are going to be. Represents excellent quality depth and a player who should get a shot at an NHL deal this offseason.
