Joel Armia scored his first North American professional goal Saturday, and Mike Zigomanis netted a pair as Rochester was dumped by Binghamton 7-3. Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Phil Varone, Luke Adam, and Kevin Sundher all added assists, while Matt Hackett stopped 31 of 37 shots in defeat. Rochester gets back to work Wednesday when Wilkes-Barre Scranton pays a visit to Blue Cross Arena.
In NCAA action, J.T. Compher connected for a short-handed breakaway goal as #2 Michigan bested Nebraska-Omaha 4-3. The forehand marker gives the freshman centerman goals in consecutive games (the first two goals of his NCAA career). Next up for the Wolverines is a visit from Niagara on Friday.
Jake
McCabe scored his third goal of the year on the power play as #12
Wisconsin earned the split with a 3-2 triumph over #8 Miami. With eight points (3+5) in eight games, McCabe leads all Badger defenseman in scoring. Brad Navin
finished with an even rating for the winning side. The Badgers get a
week off before beginning the B1G schedule Thanksgiving weekend at top-ranked Minnesota.
Sean
Malone notched his first-ever collegiate goal and added an assist
as Harvard got past Princeton 5-3. The two-point outing gives the
freshman pivot five points (1+4) through his first eight NCAA contests. The Crimson hosts Boston College on Wednesday.
Anthony Florentino (+1) registered one shot on goal as #5 Providence
earned the sweep with a 3-0 shutout of Vermont. Mark Adams did not dress
for the Friars, who next tangle with New Hampshire on Friday.
Christian Isackson contributed one shot on goal in fourth-line minutes as #1 Minnesota handled Minnesota State 3-0. The Gophers take on former WCHA rival Minnesota-Duluth on Friday.
In the USHL, Cal Petersen stopped to 28 shots to win his seventh
consecutive start as Waterloo earned a 3-2 win over Omaha. The Black
Hawks take on Team USA next Friday.
Connor Hurley (-2)
recorded three shots on goal as Muskegon avenged their Friday night loss
with a 4-3 victory over Youngstown. The blanking snaps Hurley’s
four-game point streak.
Judd Peterson potted an
empty-net goal as Cedar Rapids took it to Dubuque with a 4-1 victory.
Cedar Rapids is off until next Friday when they welcome Hurley and the
Lumberjacks to the Stable.
In the ECHL, Andrey Makarov made 41 saves to earn the game’s number one star as Fort Wayne outlasted Greenville 4-3 in overtime. Connor Knapp was named the game’s third star with 35 saves in defeat. Shawn Szydlowski remained out of the Komets lineup with a groin injury. Next up for the Komets is a Friday night home game versus Reading. Knapp and the Road Warriors will regroup for Wednesday’s battle with South Carolina.
Jonathan Parker finished with a minus-one rating as Colorado toppled Utah 4-2. The two clubs will play it back Monday in Colorado.
In Sweden, Linus Ullmark made 21 saves but received zero goal support
as MODO was blanked by Skelleftea 3-0. Gustav Possler missed his
third-straight game with a knee injury. Next up for MODO is a visit to
the Vaxjo Lakers on Wednesday.
In OHL action, Brady
Austin logged a minus-one rating as London doubled Belleville 6-3. The
Knights welcome 2015 draft phenom Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters to
town on Friday.
Justin Kea finished with a minus-one
rating as Saginaw edged Mississauga 2-1. Spirit captain Eric Locke
missed the game due to an upper body injury (likely shoulder/arm in sling) and could be out for an
extended period pending evaluation. Saginaw gets a few days off before
Wednesday’s date with Sault Ste. Marie.
In the WHL,
Logan Nelson failed to get on the score sheet as Victoria dropped a 3-1
decision to Seattle. The Royals travel to Kamloops on Tuesday.
