Eric Cornel picked up a power play assist for the victorious Petes to equal Lemieux with 13 points (4+9) in as many games. Cornel has amassed four assists in his last two games, but he has gone without a goal in his last five.
Peterborough gets back to work Thursday versus North Bay. Lemieux and the Colts will look to shake their four-game losing streak on Friday when they visit Sudbury.
Elsewhere, Nick Baptiste finished with a minus-two rating as Sudbury was defeated soundly 7-2 at London. Baptiste was held without a point for the second time in five games since returning from a shoulder injury, but has still managed to collect four goals and two assists through his second week of work. Talented 2015 draft prospect Mitchell Marner scored his second consecutive hat trick to pace the Knights. Marner has 22 points (10+12) in 16 games this season including goals in five straight.
In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek recorded a power play helper as Gatineau got past Val-d’Or 5-4 in a shootout. Karabacek has 13 points (4+9) in 17 games, but has gone without a goal in his last four. Next up for the Olympiques is a Friday home date with Charlottetown.
