Elsewhere in the WHL, defenseman Brycen Martin finished with a plus-two rating as Swift Current rode a Colby Cave natural hat trick to a 4-3 overtime triumph at Lethbridge. Martin will continue looking for his first goal of the year Saturday when the Broncos take on Reinhart and the ICE.

Justin Bailey scored his 10th goal of the year and added two assists as Kitchener blasted Peterborough 8-2. Bailey’s hot start has seen him collect 10 goals and 21 points in his first 14 games. Eric Cornel ended his six-game drought with a third-period goal for the Petes to give him 14 points (5+9) in 15 contests. Bailey will look to continue his tear on Saturday when the Rangers visit Plymouth. Cornel’s Petes are off until Sunday’s meeting with Oshawa.
Brendan Lemieux snagged a goal and an assist as Barrie blew past Sudbury 9-2. Lemieux now has nine goals and 16 points through his first 14 games. Nick Baptiste was held without a point for the second straight game for the Wolves, who return to the ice Saturday versus Belleville. Lemieux and the Colts travel west to Sault Ste. Marie.
Vaclav Karabacek snapped a four-game goal funk with his fifth of the year as Gatineau was defeated by Charlottetown 4-1. A 21-goal scorer a season ago, Karabacek has struck just twice in his last dozen games. Islanders rookie Filip Chlapak (’15) notched a three-point night with two late goals and an assist, while fellow draft eligible Daniel Sprong supplied a pair of helpers for the winners. Karabacek and the Olympiques return to work Sunday versus Baie-Comeau.

Brad Navin logged one shot on goal as Wisconsin continued their early season struggles with a 4-3 loss to No. 2 North Dakota. The former WCHA rivals meet again Saturday night in Madison.
Max Willman (-2) recorded three shots on goal as Brown dropped a 5-2 decision to St. Lawrence. The Bears host Clarkson on Saturday.
Sean Malone was inactive for the second-straight game as Harvard blanked RPI 4-0. The Crimson visit Union on Saturday.
