Nick Baptiste went without a point for the fourth time in his first nine games as Sudbury lost at Sarnia 5-2. The speedy winger was playing his third game in as many days after Thursday’s appearance with Team OHL at the Subway Super Series. Baptiste and the Wolves square off with Bailey’s Rangers on Sunday.
WHL
Sam Reinhart posted a goal off a partial breakaway and added two assists as Kootenay skated to a 4-2 triumph at Lethbridge. As expected, Reinhart has been a step ahead of the opposition en route to collecting 10 points (3+7) in his first four games. The ICE, who are a perfect 4-0 since their captain was returned from Buffalo, will look to keep the good times rolling on Wednesday when they battle Medicine Hat.
Brycen Martin registered one assist as Swift Current lost to Prince Albert 4-3 in a shootout. The left-handed defender has eight points (0+8) and a plus-two rating through 22 games. The Broncos host Seattle on Sunday.
NCAA
J.T. Compher (+1) notched one assist and four shots on goal as Michigan doubled American International 6-3. Compher has yet to score a goal while collecting six assists in his first nine games. The Wolverines remain on home ice next weekend to kick off the B1G schedule versus Penn State.
Max Willman put three shots on goal as Brown was hammered by Dartmouth 6-0. Willman and the Bears are at Colgate on Friday.
Sean Malone remained out of the lineup as Harvard was defeated by Yale 2-1. The Crimson face Dartmouth on Tuesday.
AHL
Dan Catenacci and Johan Larsson scored third-period goals but the Amerks couldn’t overcome a slow start in taking a 7-4 loss to Chicago. Chad Ruhwedel and Brayden Irwin also scored for Rochester, while Phil Varone extended his point streak to four games with a pair of assists. Joel Armia picked up one assist. Mikhail Grigorenko went without a point for the fourth game in a row.
Nathan Lieuwen earned the start in the Rochster net, allowing three goals on his first six shots before being replaced by Andrey Makarov at 9:09 of the opening period. Lieuwen would return for the third period and keep the door closed to finish the night with nine saves on 12 shots. Makarov stopped eight of 12 shots in middle relief, and will likely get the start on Sunday afternoon when the Amerks travel to Hamilton.
ECHL
Justin Kea bagged a goal and an assist for his first multiple-point game as a professional as Elmira bested Evansville 4-1. Colin Jacobs scored his first goal of the year for the Jackals, who next host Reading on Friday.
