The Prokhor Poltapov points machine kept humming along Tuesday with the 21-year-old winger scoring his fifth goal of the year in CSKA’s 3-0 win at Amur Khabarovsk.
Late in the second period with CSKA holding a 2-0 lead, Poltapov entered the zone with the puck down the left side and passed up a clear shooting option. He continued to the net front and chipped a Vitaly Abramov rebound into the net to put his side ahead 3-0.
Poltapov has been a disruptive presence in the CSKA lineup with his puck-hounding tenacity, physical play, and excellent work on the penalty kill, but the points he’s collecting sure are nice to see for a Sabres organization in need of more do-it-all depth.
Poltapov now has points in seven of the nine games he’s played this season. His 11 points (5+6) place him alone in second place among KHL scorers, two behind Abramov.
