Mancari has become a juggernaut! It’s mindboggling that he, Kennedy, and Gerbe are all in the top 10 in scoring in the AHL. So in a nutshell, Portland has Gerbe, who was the best player in college last year; Kennedy, who was maybe the best player in college two years ago; and they have the top scorer in the AHL with Mancari. The 1st call-up may entirely depend on what position we’re in need of, but I’m liking the right winger’s chances. After this horrible weekend in Buffalo sports, I’d much rather watch Portland tear it up.

  2. Kennedy and Gerbe create well, but are still learning various nuances. Kennedy is adjusting to playing center, and Gerbe is still learning the defensive side of Ruff’s system.A lot has been made of the power of a single affiliate. There are no distractions in Portland – just a bunch of guys with the same agenda. With Mancari’s time already put in, I think he’s done enough to get the call if the first look was being made today while the rookies keep grooving.
