Sabres sign Brennan and Schiestel

2007 second round picks T.J. Brennan and Drew Schiestel have come to terms on entry-level deals with the Sabres. I’ll edit this post as more details become available, but the defensemen are practicing with Portland (AHL). More to come.

EDIT” Three-year deals beginning in 2009-10.

I am glad they are giving him an opportunity to play or practice with Portland. He really played well at the end of the year and in the playoffs.

Bakes, do you think Ennis and Byron will also be signed before the season is over in Portland?

  4. Ennis will be signed, it’s just a matter of how quickly. 2008-09 was an arduous run, but it has been reported as an option. Byron – up in the air.

  7. Byron can play as an overager next season. He’s the hardest guy to gauge (in terms of what the Sabres will do), but I’m confident he’ll be in camp.

Wow, Myers, Bulter, Weber, Sekera, Generous, Schiestel, and Brennan all in the system, the future certain looks bright on the back end for this organization. Imagine if they somehow signed Buravchikov. Strangely enough, only two years ago, this was considered a major weakness. We also have two or three good goalies in the pipeline but can we unearth a few really promising and big forwards this year?krt88

Any chance Allard is offered a contract?

  10. Allard is possible. It’s a consistency thing. Overall, I still find his game to be soft, but he can get the puck to those who can finish and will likely be brought in.
